“Dogs have always been an important part of our lives. In fact, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that loving dogs has shaped our lives. We are professional dog lovers! All dogs… we are an equal-opportunity dog loving family.”
Trina’s breeding journey started when Calvin and Trina married in 1985. They couldn’t imagine a home without at least one dog. Quickly they fell in love with the Chow Chow. After attending some shows they adopted an outstandingly beautiful blue male with an excellent temperament. And that was all it took. They had a new mission. As Trina puts it, “Chows had a bad reputation as really aggressive and unsafe. And we had seen some like that. But ours were very sweet and obedient. As we did research, we found that most of the problems could be traced back to poor breeding practices. We felt compelled to do what we could to improve the breed and share it with others.” Even decades later, we get calls from many who adopted a Chow Chow puppy looking for another from our program.
With Calvin and Trina’s children — Zach and Nicole — came the smaller breeds: first, the Yorkie, and then later the Shih Tzu, Maltese, Biewer Terrier, and Poodles. Nicole and Trina run the toy breed program today. They focus primarily on breeding for companionship, personality, coat quality, and health. We are proud to be licensed with the state of Texas. We have been used as an example breeder for their educational programs for state inspectors and breeders. Our happy, healthy puppies reside all over the Texas and the United States.
Below is the process we use to send our puppies home with great families that will love them and enjoy them for a lifetime. Trina used to talk everyone through the process every time she got a phone call, but we decided to write it down to make things simpler.
Our questionnaire is required to be filled out before we show any puppies, send paperwork for our waitlist, or send pictures / videos. After your questionnaire is submitted, we typically contact you within a few hours or the next day.
If we do not currently have a puppy available that you are interested in, we can put you on our waitlist. Our waitlist guarantees we will provide you an opportunity to select a puppy of your desired breed and sex within 12 months from placing your waitlist deposit. The waitlist deposit puts you ahead of the general public and we show puppies in order of deposit placement. If you are interested in our waitlist, we will send you an email where you can sign our waitlist agreement and pay the non-refundable $100 deposit. We require the rest of our puppy deposit (20% of the puppy’s price) once you select your puppy to hold it.
On our veterinarian’s advice, due to the prevalence of parvo and other contagious disease in the DFW area, we only show puppies through video conference. We’re happy to explain why parvo and other contagious disease are transmitted by in person visits, please just give us a call. We can use FaceTime, Google Meet, Zoom, WhatsApp, whatever is most convenient for you.
Please, whether you buy a puppy from us or not, do not buy a puppy without seeing the puppy in some form of video conferencing first. Scammers are notorious for showing pics and videos that they have stolen from breeders and pretending to have a puppy this way, but no one can fake a video call.
We do not hold any puppy without a deposit. Puppies are shown on a first come, first serve basis. Showings are by appointment only. Deposits are 20% of puppy price with a minimum of $500.
Once you’ve selected a puppy, we will send an email over for you to review our Health Guarantee and Spay / Neuter Agreement and put down your deposit through a QuickBooks invoice that shows the total balance. Included with the email is our New Puppy Care Manual, which includes the current food and supplements we are feeding, a shopping list with our suggestions, information on hypoglycemia in toy breeds, and answers to basically every question we get asked about new puppies.
We accept payment either in cash or electronic payments through Quickbooks (credit, debit, bank transfer, Apple Pay, etc.) We do not accept payment through Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, or cashier’s check.
The prices on our website reflect the cash price. All payments made through Quickbooks incur a 3% surcharge. All puppy sales in Texas are subject to Texas sales tax.
We hold puppies until we feel they can handle the transition into a new home without high risk of hypoglycemia. They must be at least 8 weeks old and 2lbs or close to it before we send them home. Many of our puppies go home at 10 weeks or after due to this size requirement. We often keep puppies that are smaller than breed standard (often called “teacup” puppies) until 12 weeks old or longer if necessary. It is illegal to send home a puppy before 8 weeks old in the state of Texas. Every puppy is different and we create a projected go home date for each individual puppy when we show them to their prospective family.
We can take cash on pickup if within a week of the due date or you can pay the balance again through your Quickbooks invoice if your puppy will be staying with us longer.
We are located between Benbrook and Granbury off of 377. Pickups are by appointment only. We meet people at our gate with their puppy. Final instructions and medical records are sent by email on the day of pickup. We also have a lap nanny that can do door delivery or fly puppies in the cabin to any international airport. Deliveries start at $500 and go up.
As stated in our Health Guarantee, we require a vet visit within 72hrs of the puppy leaving our location for the health guarantee to be in effect. We suggest scheduling your vet appointment as soon as you place a deposit and set a pickup date so you don’t miss this window. And as stated in the Spay / Neuter agreement, we require puppies to be spayed or neutered between 6 months and 12 months old or whenever your vet says it is safe for your puppy.
